DRC: Canoes become only means of transport in flood-stricken areas
Floods have cut off National Road 2, which connects the provincial capitals of Goma to Bukavu. The only access route to the outside world for surviving residents is Lake Kivu. Canoes are now used to transport both the living and the dead.
